I recently dined at "Vịt Cỏ Vân Đình," a place well-known for its duck dishes, and I must say, the experience exceeded my expectations. I ordered the duck salad and the pan-fried duck, and both dishes were exceptional in their own way, showcasing the versatility and richness of duck as a main ingredient. Starting with the **duck salad**, I was immediately impressed by the fresh presentation. The salad was a vibrant mix of shredded duck, crisp vegetables, and fragrant herbs. The duck meat was tender and juicy, with just the right amount of seasoning. It was clear that they used high-quality ingredients, as the duck retained its natural flavor without being overshadowed by heavy spices. The vegetables – a mix of shredded cabbage, carrots, and cucumbers – provided a fresh, crunchy contrast to the richness of the duck, and the aromatic herbs like cilantro and mint elevated the dish with their refreshing notes. What truly made the duck salad stand out, though, was the dressing. It was a perfect balance of sweet, sour, and savory, with a slight tang from lime and a hint of fish sauce that tied everything together. The chili gave it just the right amount of heat, which complemented the coolness of the vegetables. Every bite was a delightful combination of textures and flavors, with the duck's richness beautifully balanced by the light, crisp salad and the zesty dressing. Next, the **pan-fried duck** was a standout dish in its own right. The duck was pan-fried to perfection, with the skin achieving a golden, crispy texture while the meat remained moist and flavorful. The outside had a slight crunch, but the meat was tender, juicy, and full of deep, savory flavors. It had been marinated with a blend of traditional Vietnamese spices, giving the dish a robust flavor without being too heavy or greasy. The pan-fried duck was served with a dipping sauce that added another layer of complexity to the dish. The sauce was a blend of soy sauce, garlic, and a touch of chili, providing a savory, slightly spicy note that enhanced the duck's natural flavors. I found myself alternating between eating the duck on its own and dipping it into the sauce for a different burst of flavor with each bite. The combination was satisfying and flavorful, with the crispy skin offering a wonderful contrast to the tender meat. The portion sizes were generous, and both dishes left me feeling completely satisfied. The restaurant itself had a warm, casual atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for enjoying a hearty, traditional Vietnamese meal. The staff were friendly and quick to offer recommendations, clearly passionate about their food and eager to ensure guests had a great dining experience. Overall, "Vịt Cỏ Vân Đình" delivered an outstanding meal with their duck salad and pan-fried duck. The flavors were bold and authentic, and the quality of the ingredients truly shone through in every bite. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves duck or wants to experience traditional Vietnamese duck dishes at their best. It's definitely a place I look forward to returning to for more delicious meals.
I have eaten here twice. The 1st time I ate the roast duck. It was served with a side salad and cold rice noodles that you dipped into a small bowl of duck gravy. It was delicious. The 2nd time I ate here, I ate the salt roasted duck. It was absolutely delicious. If I was staying in Da Nang longer I would come back again and again and slowly try everything on the menu. Even the duck blood soup. Also, they have Hanoi beer, which is a really decent beer.
