Da Nang Trains Inland Waterway Vessel Operators for Disaster Prevention and Response

On the morning of August 25, the Da Nang City Military Command, in coordination with the Department of Construction and the II Maritime and Waterway College, opened a training course to issue inland waterway vessel operator certificates for disaster prevention, response, and search and rescue work in 2026. The course attracted 284 trainees.

This is a practical activity aimed at equipping participants with safe vessel handling skills, helping authorities and residents proactively respond to storms and floods, which frequently occur in the central region. Strengthening the capacity of this workforce contributes to reducing casualties and property damage in the upcoming storm season.

The training course goes beyond theory, with a strong focus on hands-on practice, helping trainees master operational procedures and emergency handling on waterways. Upon completion, trainees will receive valid certificates and be ready to take part in rescue and relief missions when disasters strike in the city.

This is one of the key measures for Da Nang to become more proactive in disaster prevention, ensuring the safety of residents and tourists, while also contributing to building a safe city that adapts to climate change.
