The Son Bistro – Vietnamese Restaurant, Craft Beer & Bar

My friend and I stumbled upon this spot by chance while strolling the old quarter for a place to grab drinks on the second day of Lunar New Year. We just wanted drinks, but ended up getting fish and chips too. We were suprised that the drinks are good, but the food was also solid, and the prices were fair—no inflated costs or surcharges for the holiday. We were also really impressed with the service. An and two other staff members took care of us. They were all so friendly and attentive, especially the one with the beaming smile even asking if we had any specific requests beyond the usual options, even though we were only ordering a small dish. Overall, it was a great experience. Tụi mình tình cờ ghé quán sau khi đi dạo phố cổ tối mồng hai Tết do muốn tìm một quán nước nhưng sau buồn miệng lại gọi thêm một món ăn nhẹ. Nước ổn, đồ ăn ngon, giá cũng không tăng hay phụ phí Tết. Tụi mình được phục vụ bởi 3 bạn, An với 2 bạn nam nữa thì phải. Các bạn đều siêu nhiệt tình và chu đáo, đặc biệt là bạn nam đeo kính hay cười mà mình quên hỏi tên mất ạ. Tụi mình chỉ order có 1 món thui mà bạn ý gợi ý cho bọn mình là cần cái này cái kia không cá cần giòn hay mềm đồ gì không nữa. Nói chung là cũng đáng ghé quán nha ạ.

Lovely dinner at The Son Bistro in Hoi An! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. A special shoutout to our server Quan, who made the evening extra special with his service and good energy. Highly recommend!

Fantastic place with the authentic Vietnamese and mix of international food with the Asian twist. Stuff is super friendly, even gave us a master class how to eat Vietnamese pancakes dish! Quang- is a top guy! We will be back again 🤤😋👍🥟 on the weekends life band- worth to visit and to listen!

Chill spot when you need a break to grab an ice cold beer and drinks. Didn’t get a chance to order food because we were stuff from all the food we ate from lunch. But the owner was sweet and let us just chill.

We sat outside the Son Bistro on a rainy day and loved it. The beer was good value (60 for a pint of Huda) and the platter including the Nem Lui was delicious. Lam our server was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend! Great place to people watch!

Thao was so friendly and welcoming! We had a lovely snack here, I tried the white rose dumplings for the first time and loved them! Great service 😊

We'd walked past this restaurant a number of times over the days and it was always busy. Intrigued, we stopped by for a bottle of wine and some banh xeo. The location is excellent for people-watching. The wine was good but the banh xeo, less so. For pretty much double the price of the same dish elsewhere, we got quite a stingy portion. The accompanying vegetables were sadly lacking, and the rice paper was dry and cracked. This was replaced by a fresher batch, however. My main gripe with this place was the bill. The figures didn't add up and when I questioned this I was shown a sign which said there was an additional 10% added for Tet. This sign was placed beside the cash machine inside the restaurant by the way. Now, I was aware of this Tet surcharge, was ready for it, but hadn't actually experienced it. The problem is NOT telling customers before they order, which seems sneaky, and left a bit of a bad taste, especially on our last day in such a lovely place. They also charge 5% if you want to pay by credit card, which was the most I'd come across.

Beautiful food, best in Hanoi, recommend the tasting platter to experience everything. Excellent service thank you uncle Quang. Extensive range of beer and wine on the menu if you are into it but great range of tea. Not much for dessert but overall excellent food and service for the price.

We arrived in Hoi A late in the evening and needed somewhere to eat but many places had already closed by 10pm. We came across The Son Bistro and was told the kitchen was open until 10.30pm…perfect! And it didn’t disappoint, the food and service were excellent. Quang was looking after us and made some great recommendations! We highly recommended.

The best place we have found on our trip. The food is amazing as is the service Quang provides. We found this place so late into our trip but we will most certainly be coming again. Thank you to all the staff 🫶
